Walt Disney’s Winnie The Pooh Donut Recipe (Baked)

Oh bother, another donut recipe. Don’t worry, this Winnie The Pooh Donut recipe is adorable and tasty! I grew up loving Winnie the Pooh and watching it while my Mom stayed at home with me. I have fond memories of  singing the theme song and growing attached to the characters. When I found out about Disney’s Christopher Robin movie, I knew it would bring back nostalgia from my childhood.

I got a sneak peek of the new movie on our last Disney World vacation and I can’t wait to see Ewan McGregor play Christopher Robin. I hope they really use his talents for singing and even a little dancing. I’ll be taking the whole family on August 3rd when the film opens in theaters.

Check out this fun Christopher Robin featurette:

To celebrate, here is a really cute Winnie the Pooh donut to make with the kids. Let them help you make the batter and even decorate each donut. It’s the perfect chance to bond and re-connect with your childhood, which is what Christopher Robin is all about.

Preheat your oven to 350 degree’s and spray a doughnut baking pan with pam baking spray. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a small bowl, whisk together egg, milk, butter, and vanilla extract.

Spoon batter into doughnut pan and bake for 10 minutes.

Remove from oven and allow to cool for 6 minutes before removing and placing the doughnuts onto a wire rack. Repeat steps until all batter is used. For the vanilla glaze:

  • In a large bowl combine the powdered sugar, vanilla, salt and milk and mix until combined, If the glaze has powdered sugar clumps still, mix in another tbsp of milk.
  • Split the glaze into two bowls
  • In one bowl add in a few drops of yellow gel food coloring and mix until combined. You will want to try and get the yellow glaze to match the yellow candy melts.
  • In the second bowl, mix in a few drops of the red gel coloring. Add in a few more drops of red until you get Pooh’s bright red shade. Cover and set aside.

For the decorating, make sure that your wire rack is on top of a larger cookie sheet so that when you pour the yellow glaze onto the doughnuts, the glaze will not drip onto the counter. Grab a cooled doughnut and cut a slit into the side of the doughnut for pooh’s ears.

Lightly push in a candy melt into the slit. Repeat step with the other side of the doughnut and remaining doughnuts.

Place the doughnuts onto the wire rack and pour the yellow glaze onto the doughnuts. Allow glaze to dry for an hour before adding the red glaze. Once the yellow glaze has slightly hardened, take a large knife, spatula or anything that is flat and carefully place in the middle of the doughnut.

Do not touch the doughnut because this is going to act as a shield for when you pour the red glaze on. Carefully pour the red glaze onto the lower half of Pooh’s doughnut.

Using the black icing, pipe on his face details. Allow to dry for an hour before enjoying! I promise, the kids will love this Winnie The Pooh donut recipe.
