As Halloween approaches, it’s time for more treats and fun in the kitchen. The kids and I combine our love for Disney and fall baking. They love getting into the kitchen and helping me out – then sharing our creations with Dad. After the White Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Mickey Rice Krispies were a big hit, I thought we’d take it a step further. Now I’ve got the ultimate Halloween Disney recipe: Mickey Pumpkin Donuts.
Each one is dipped in orange and green candy melts to look like pumpkins, then decorated with a cute face and ears. They tastes as cute as they look too – soft and gooey. The kids eat them with a glass of OJ, but I prefer my Mickey with coffee.
Sometimes you just need a bit of Disney magic at home and there’s no better way than whipping up some magic in the kitchen. Until we make it to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disney World, these will have to do!
Halloween Disney Recipe: Mickey Pumpkin Donuts
Preheat your oven to 350 degree’s and spray a doughnut baking pan with pam baking spray. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a small bowl, whisk together egg, milk, butter, and vanilla extract.
Combine the wet ingredients in with the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Spoon batter into doughnut pan and bake for 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and allow to cool for 6 minutes before removing and placing the doughnuts onto a wire rack. Repeat steps until all batter is used.
For the vanilla icing and decorating: Using a standing mixer, combine the powdered sugar, corn syrup, milk and vanilla extract and mix on medium to high speed until smooth and thick.
Scoop about 1/4 C of the icing into 2 bowls. Add a few drops of green to one bowl. Add a few drops of yellow to the second bowl. Scoop the two icing’s into their own piping bag.
Add a few drops of the orange gel food coloring into the remaining white icing. Scoop about 5 TBSP of orange icing into a piping bag and set aside.
Using a sharp knife, cut slits into the top corners of the doughnut for Mickey‘s ears. Place an orange candy melt into the slits.
Place doughnuts onto a wire rack and carefully pour the remaining orange icing onto the doughnuts. Allow to dry for 30 minutes.
Carefully push in a pixie stick into the top center of the doughnut in between the ears.
Cut the tip of the green piping bag and pipe green icing onto the pixie stick. Make sure the stick is completely coated. Allow to dry for 30 minutes.
Using the green piping bag, pipe 3 lines onto the “Stem”. Using the orange piping bag, pipe the details of the pumpkin onto the doughnuts. Allow to dry for 30 minutes.
Using the yellow piping bag, pipe the 3 dots onto the doughnuts for the eyes and mouth. Allow to dry completely before enjoying your Mickey Pumpkin Donuts!
